Bio Blurb:
Anne Marie Stoddard is a mystery and fiction author residing in Atlanta, Ga. “Murder At Castle Rock” is her debut novel and the winner of the 2012 AJC Decatur Book Festival & BookLogix Publishing Serivces, Inc. Writing Contest.

Short Form Bio:
Anne Marie Stoddard used to work in radio, and it rocked. She goes to concerts like it’s her job-because sometimes, it actually is. After studying Music Business at the University of Georgia, Anne Marie has worked for several music venues, radio stations, and large music festivals, and she currently creates promotional contests and writes music trivia for a media company. Aside from all things music, she loves college football, anything pumpkin-flavored, and a good mystery. Her debut full-length novel, “Murder At Castle Rock”, was the winner of the 2012 AJC Decatur Book Festival & BookLogix Publishing Services, Inc. Writing Contest. Anne Marie is currently working on her second novel from her home in Atlanta, GA.

Full Bio:
Anne Marie was born in south Georgia in September of 1984 and spent her childhood in the countryside surrounding Cairo, Ga. Stoddard began writing short stories as early as kindergarten and was sharing them with her class by third grade. In fifth grade, she had a poem published in the 1995 edition of “The Anthology of Poetry By Young Americans.”

In middle school, Anne Marie traded writing for a new creative outlet, musical performance. She played alto saxophone from sixth grade through her fifth year as a Music Therapy major at the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the Redcoat Marching Band and Sigma Alpha Iota. Stoddard shifted her musical focus from performance to the music business industry in 2007 when she enrolled in the charter class of the Terry College of Business & Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s Music Business Certification Program. She gained knowledge of the ins and outs of the music industry through student run record label projects, serving as an in-studio runner for John Keane and the B-52′s, and running the will call booth at the Georgia Theatre for several months. Stoddard also volunteered at AthFest, interned in and managed the backstage artist lounge at Lollapalooza, booked benefit concerts as the Special Projects Chair of Sigma Alpha Iota, and spent two years as the booking and merchandising assistant for the Famous 40 Watt Club and Pitch-a-Tent Records.

After college, Stoddard traded the Athens music scene for the industry life in nearby Atlanta, where she worked in promotions, traffic, and sales for Clear Channel Radio for several years. No longer playing her saxophone, Anne Marie turned back to writing. As an avid reader, she had a passion for mysteries, and in the fall of 2011, she decided to apply her writing talents to creating a murder mystery set in the music industry. Her debut novel, “Murder At Castle Rock,” was selected as the grand prize winner of the 2012 AJC Decatur Book Festival & BookLogix Publishing Services, Inc. Writing Contest.

Stoddard currently resides in Sandy Springs, on the Atlanta perimeter, where she is working on the second book in her music mystery series as well as the first work in a new paranormal series set in the art industry.

Murder at Castle Rock Synopsis

As the manager and booking agent for Atlanta’s famous Castle Rock concert venue, Amelia “Ame” Grace is ready for the most exciting week of her career: she’s booked three shows and a live DVD-filming for the comeback tour of none other than the eighties Pop Rock Prince himself, Bobby Glitter! Before the rock star can take a bow on the first night, however, trouble steals the show as Castle Rock’s owner takes a deadly tumble from atop the venue’s rear tower. To make matters worse, the police suspect foul play—and all signs point to two of Castle Rock’s own employees. Ame is in a race against time to clear the names of her friends and uncover the truth before the killer decides it’s curtains for her too!

“Stoddard isn’t afraid to write about the seedier aspects of rock ‘n’ roll and the backstage goings-on…The book emphasizes rock ‘n’ roll, but not at the expense of the mystery, which is packed with surprises. There are so many layers, motives, and hidden agendas that I had a good time untangling it all.”
-P.J. Morse, author of “Heavy Mental”

“Murder at Castle Rock is Amelia Grace’s first appearance and I hope it won’t be her last. She is one of those heroines you’d like to be friends with, and you’ll find yourself rooting for her throughout the novel. I also found myself becoming invested in her friends and co-workers, and hope that they become recurring characters. It’s always nice to discover a new author, and I look forward to reading more of Anne Marie Stoddard’s work.”-Cozy Mystery Book Reviews
